Santa Cruz Valley Union High School

We have approximately 400 students—all in the 9th–12th grades—and they understand that going to school every day is their number one priority and their daily job. They take the responsibility seriously as they strive to live up to our school’s code of conduct and excel academically and personally.

Since coming to school is every student's daily job, and because they want to have successful and productive lives after high school, Santa Cruz students understand that they must develop the proper business ethics, morality, and behavior of esteemed men and women in our society. To support this ideal, we endorse and live by the pillars of Character Counts! They are:

Trustworthiness

  • Be honest—don't deceive, cheat, or steal.
  • Be reliable—do what you say you'll do.
  • Have the courage to do the right thing.
  • Build a good reputation.
  • Be loyal—stand by your family, friends, school and country.

Respect

  • Treat others with respect; follow the golden rule.
  • Be tolerant of differences.
  • Use good manners, not bad language.
  • Be considerate of the feelings of others.
  • Don't threaten, hit, or hurt anyone.
  • Deal peacefully with anger, insults, and disagreements.

Responsibility

  • Do what you are supposed to do.
  • Persevere—keep on trying! Always do your best.
  • Use self-control; be self-disciplined.
  • Think before you act; consider the consequences.
  • Be accountable for your choice.

Fairness

  • Play by the rules.
  • Take turns and share.

Clubs

Santa Cruz has something for everybody. From playing in the school band to being on the football team or editing the class yearbook, you’re bound to make great friends and have a lot of fun. Our faculty members really love what they do, and together we can make it great. These can be some of the best years of your life. Join a club and make it count. See you there!
